Bands. Hey. I don’t sell prints to the public. (Except occasional expensive art prints). There’s a few reasons for this, first and foremost that you control your own image for “commercial use” and it’s not like you’ve signed a model release, or for the most part even asked me to be at your show. I just appear, beer in one hand, Nikon in the other, drink the beer and stick the Nikon up the musician’s noses.
However, this fancy-schmancy web site I have, actually has fancy-schmancy e-commerce capabilities built in. If I upload big high-quality photographs instead of the dinky 1000 pixel versions that I normally do, I can enable a gallery for print sales and mucho more crap. You can buy cheap-assed glossy prints of my pics, fancy (and expensive) canvas prints, mugs, buttons, t-shirts and even a jigsaw puzzle.
Let me give you an example, because I set up such a gallery for a friend who did a studio shoot, set the gallery to private, and then she shared the link with the world. Here’s the high-resolution gallery of Stacy’s studio shoot. Click on any image, hit ‘Add To Cart’, and there are all the things you can buy. I make a profit on these, if nothing that’s going to make me quit the day job.
So, if you really like the photos of yourself, and want me to put up such a gallery, I can. Only doing it with your permission, in writing, and I’m still not going to post the link on the front page, just give it to you to distribute as you see fit. I can make the gallery password-protected if you like. Like I said, there’s a profit here, but it’s not large. Beer money. But if we split it, maybe you could buy some guitar strings or something.
In other news, I’m shooting the first Thursday Night Photo shoot this week. Look for those, probably over the weekend,
