Imagine if the The Kinks, Devo, Stray Cats and The Ventures were galactic pioneers and joined forces to defend earth's right to "rocket roll." Combine that with a fast driving blend of punk, pop, rockabilly, solid songwriting and a smart Sci-Fi theme and you've got one of San Francisco's most talked about bands, The Phenomenauts.

Cafe Du Nord comments: 0 Referrals: 132
Café Du Nord is a nightclub, restaurant and live music venue located in the landmark Swedish-American building in the Upper Market district of San Francisco. Although the Du Nord is known for the quality of the national music acts it showcases, the club retains the ambiance of a classic lounge. Built in 1907, it has maintained its Victorian interiors, featuring the original faux decorated paneling and wainscoting, and a forty-foot hand carved mahogany bar. Details throughout the club hearken back to its past life as a notorious speakeasy during Prohibition. The rich red walls and dark wood interior create the perfect environment to enjoy classic cocktails and the most eclectic live music in town — seven nights a week. Larger shows (sometimes) upstairs at The Swedish American Hall.

El Rio - a neighborhood bar with a heck of alot to offer. Besides our silver screen, slick dance floor, and oysters from GOD, you'll find a friendly crowd here that's inclusive. We got politicos, pirates, hackers, soft shoes, kahunas, harpies, coxcombs, zealots, jokers, gourmands, paragons, and swingers of all types. For us there are no genders too obscure and no names too difficult to pronounce. 3158 Mission St (@ Cesar Chavez), San Francisco

Deb takes portraits of indie bands, promotes shows, writes reviews, and has an amazing web site. I'd hate her because she's good, except I know her, she's exceptionally nice, and we like completely different music and almost never go to the same shows.
